From seller description:
In 1937 the Packard 12 was truly a World Class Engine. In 2023 it still is. There were two generations of Packard 12 Cylinder engines – the Twin Six manufactured and sold from 1916-1923. It returned as the second generation in 1933 initially as the Twin Six V12 virtually unchanged from the earlier engine. It was quickly renamed the Packard 12 which aligned the name with the other model designations in the line. In 1935 the displacement was increased to 473 CI and it as rated at 175 HP. If a customer wanted the now available 144” wheel base, he had to take the 12 Cylinder engine. In 1937 there were two other major changes… 4-wheel hydraulic brakes and an independent front suspension. In spite of the company’s overwhelming orientation on engineering excellence, Packard cars were always regal in in appearance. These were the cars preferred by society’s elite, moguls of industry, stars of entertainment, and Royalty throughout the world. The owner of a Packard 12 was in a very special class of its own. These cars exuded quality and status in the typical conservative Packard way. 1937 was the Packard 12’s most successful year with a total of 1300 built.
