Street ball is almost the exact opposite of the NBA. You are allowed to carry, double dribble, throwing the ball at your defender's head in encouraged and the only thing that matters is embarrassing your defender. So, you would think that street ball players would never succeed in the NBA, right? Well, that isn't the case for Rafer Alston. Alston grew up in New York, a mecca for basketball that has produced NBA legends like Kareem Abdul Jabar, Mark Jackson, Stephon Marbury, Chris Mullin, Kenny Smith, the list goes on...
Alston, got his chance at Rucker Park, a famous outdoor court in New York, he then went on to play for the legendary AND 1 streetball tour, before eventually being drafted by the Milwaukee Bucks. Join me, as we go alongside Rafer Alston on his journey from the outdoor courts of New York, to the NBA Finals in 2009 against Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers.
