I noticed that this 1988 BMW K75 S would hesitate under hard acceleration during the middle RPM range around 3-4500. It pulls strongly from idle up to 3k, and the above 5k, the bike would accelerate quickly all the way to redline. I didn't replace the vacuum lines when replacing the fuel lines, so going back to see if changing to new vacuum lines will help eliminate the flat spot.
