Ruth Osman - November 27, 2024 - Anthony’s Cari-Jazz - Artiste of the Day
Ruth Osman is a singer, songwriter, poet and flautist. Ruth has been performing since childhood. Her passion for music has led to her appearance in a variety of events - from the church stage to national and international concerts.
Ruth has collaborated with local jazz musicians, including the late Raf Robertson, Michael Germaine, Marva Newton and Michael Low Chew Tung (Ming).
In 2013, she teamed up with producer Jason Dasent to record her debut album, Letting Go.
Her second album, Elemental, was produced in November 2016 in collaboration with Keon Jeffrey of Klassic Music Ent. and a_phake of Future Crab Studios. The album, dubbed ‘a 10-track gem’ by the Trinidad Guardian, includes collaborations with jazz guitarist Theron Shaw, singer/songwriter Collis Duranty and saxophonist Courtney Fadlin.
Osman now performs alongside pianist Wayne Guerra, drummer Makesi Joseph, bassist Clint Harewood and percussionist Sheena Richardson as Ruth Osman & The Love Warriors. Theron Shaw is also featured regularly in her appearances. Together, these artists create a musical experience that critics have called ‘original’, ‘entrancing’ and ‘profound’.
