The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (UP STF) apprehended Abdul Samad, a 29-year-old member of the late Atiq Ahmed's gang, in Delhi. Abdul, also the brother-in-law of another deceased gang member Ashraf, was wanted in seven cases since 2015 and had a ₹1 lakh reward on his head. He had been evading arrest by frequently changing his residence between Delhi, Karnataka, and Mumbai. The STF located him in Delhi and arrested him at DDA Flats in Malviya Nagar. Abdul was implicated in logistics support for Ashraf in Bareilly jail and was involved in extortion activities under Ashraf's name in Bareilly.
