(12 Mar 2017) Fierce fighting was continuing in Western Mosul between Iraqi Federal Police forces and the Islamic State group.
On Saturday, the Iraqi forces were seen shooting at a drone in the sky and firing a rocket propelled grenade launcher.
Along with an estimated 700,000 civilians, some 2,000 Islamic State fighters are largely surrounded by Iraqi forces who are attempting to launch coordinated pushes into the city.
IS has responded with counterattacks led by small elite units of fighters.
In the nearly four weeks since Iraqi forces pushed into the edge of western Mosul, more than 50,000 civilians have fled, according to the United Nations.
