A rare encounter with this Arctic apex predator 🐻❄️ #GoProAwards recipient Andreas Heide + Tord Karlsen set up our 360 camera, GoPro MAX, in Northern Svalbard + captured this incredible shot of the bear scouting out its whale blubber breakfast. Using GoPro Labs' Motion Detection, the team was able to leave their camera unattended for hours until this large adult strolled by, hunting for its next meal.
At the current rate of sea ice melt, 2/3 of the world’s polar bears could be extinct by the year 2050. These large predators rely on the ice for both hunting + as a means of travel across the arctic. You can help save the polar bears by simply making conscious efforts in your daily life to reduce your greenhouse gas emissions.
