My uncle is Swedish, and he would often make glögg (mulled wine) for Christmas, and it really doesn’t feel like Christmas without it. Because of Covid, we haven’t been able to celebrate the holidays together for a few years, so he gave me his recipe to enjoy and share with y’all. Hope y’all enjoy.
24 hours in advance, soak in enough vodka to cover:
18 whole cloves
12 cardamom seeds
3 sticks of cinnamon
1 cup of raisins
1 cup of blanched almonds
Vodka to cover ( Tito's )
30 min before serving, combine above with below, warm without boiling:
2 bottles of dry red wine
1 bottle of port wine
Sugar to taste
Extra vodka to suit
Ladle into glasses, making sure to include raisins and almonds
