It was the first time ever i spotted DLW's celebrated EMD, "PRATEEK" WDP4B 40079 standing in Anand Vihar Yard sans the shed markings, it had just arrived that morning. After taking snaps to my heart's content, we proceeded to Anand Vihar station to catch an EMU back home. Just as myself and my friend, Nitin made our way into the station, we saw a WAP7 hauled train approaching, from whatever little i could make out, it looked like an LHB rake, and i assumed it to be some late running Rajdhani. But to my surprise, it turned out to be a train i wanted to capture a lot, but thanks its schedule in Delhi, was never able to capture it in Delhi, not even during winter times. Then when i actually realized it was Purushottam express, i was happy, and this video happens to be my only capture of the train so far.

Purushottam Express is a daily train which runs between Puri in Odisha and New Delhi. It is one of the oldest train that connects Puri to New Delhi. The express has been a very popular train among the people of Odisha which covers the distance in two nights and a day. With the introduction of faster trains like the Rajdhani and Sampark Kranti, Purushottam Express still manages to run packed 365 days a year.Main cities in route are : Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Kharagpur, Tatanagar, Bokaro Steel City, Gaya, Mughalsarai, Allahabad and Kanpur Central.

The train now uses LHB Coaches since December 2013. After the upgrade to LHB Rakes from ICF,It is now getting hauled by WAP7 GZB Between NDLS-PURI & WAP4 SRC Between KGP-PURI.

12801 departs PURI at 21:45hrs and arrives NDLS 04:50hrs the third day morning.

12802 departs NDLS at 22:15hrs and arrives PURI 05:25hrs the third day morning.

It clocks an overall average of 60kmph, and hence categorized as a Superfast Train.
