The countdown to the main HaBaWaBa events of summer 2023 officially starts today: registration is now open for 15th HaBaWaBa International Festival and the 7th HaBaWaBa PLUS. Both events will take place at Bella Italia & EFA Village in Lignano Sabbiadoro (Italy). However 2023 will also be the year of a new event: HaBaWaBa ExtraPLUS.

HABAWABA INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL. HaBaWaBa International Festival 2023 will be held from June 18th to 25th: participation is open to boys, girls and mixed teams, but unlike Waterpolo Development’s previous announcement, the event will be reserved for U10 (born in 2013 and younger) and U12 (born in 2011 and younger) players. The return to U9 and U11 age categories is postponed. “It’s a choice we made in accordance with the indications of the Italian Swimming Federation, which decided to postpone the return to the odd-numbered youth categories”, President of Waterpolo Development Bruno Cufino explains.

HABAWABA PLUS. For older players HaBaWaBa will double. HaBaWaBa PLUS 2023 will take place from June 25th to July 2nd: the event includes a mixed team tournament reserved for U13 players (born 2010 and younger). As with HaBaWaBa International Festival, registration is now open for HaBaWaBa PLUS.

HABAWABA EXTRAPLUS. However, to allow kids born in 2009 to continue their HaBaWaBa experience, Waterpolo Development has created a new event, scheduled for the end of the summer: HaBaWaBa ExtraPLUS. It will have a boys and a girls tournament, both reserved for U14 players. The 1st edition of HaBaWaBa ExtraPLUS will take place on September, from 3rd to 8th, 2023: registration for this event will open on November 28th, more information about the event will be provided in the coming weeks. “We decided to create HaBaWaBa ExtraPLUS to give an opportunity kids from an age category who are not yet involved in international tournaments to play a real international competition”, Cufino explains.
