The spat between the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has begun over the lighting of fireworks in the nation's capital. The Arvind Kejriwal administration in Delhi has prohibited the setting off of firecrackers on the occasion of Diwali and warned anybody who do so will face harsh punishment. In the meantime, the BJP has criticised CM Kejriwal for lighting fireworks in celebration of Rajkumar Anand's appointment as a minister in the nation's capital. The Kejriwal administration in Delhi has outlawed fireworks to ensure a pollution-free Diwali. Gopal Rai, a minister in the Delhi administration, has urged people not to light firecrackers on Diwali. A fine of up to Rs 5000 and a jail sentence of up to 3 years may be imposed for breaking the rules.
