What is a Mystery Basket?
In culinary school we would do something called a "Mystery Basket Challenge". This was basically when we would be given a set of random in ingredients and were required to make a delicious meal with them. Cooking at home using ingredients already in the fridge is essentially this! Everyday we can do a "Mystery Basket Challenge". This is a great way to gain new cooking skills and use up leftovers we already have. It's also a great way to stick to a food budget.
In this video I did a Mystery Basket Challenge using some raw vegetables and already cooked items like potatoes and beans. I follow the Daily Dozen so this is another element to this type of challenge. Trying to get as many Daily Dozen ingredients into one dish as possible while using up leftovers is a great way to cook healthy meals for the family!
