Emilio de Gogorza, under the pseudonym Signor Francisco, sings the Toreador Song, from Bizet's "Carmen" - G&T record VM52720, recorded June 1902 - original record played on a travelling arm gramophone, based on the "Trademark" model but of modern construction, with refinements.
Despite the word "Italian" on the label, De Gogorza was American of Spanish parentage, and the language of the aria sounds remarkably like French - a case of mis-labelling?
