Darling is a town in South Africa’s Western Cape. It's part of the Cape Floral Region and home to hundreds of species of flowering plants. The Darling Museum, in the 1899 Town Hall, traces local history, including the 19th-century butter industry.
he warm, welcoming and friendly tourism folk from Darling believe that peace and tranquility is foremost.
At the beginning of the 18th century about 29 farmers lived in an area called Groenkloof and on one of these farms, Langfontein, Darling was founded in 1853. It was named after Sir Charles Henry Darling who came in 1851 to the Cape as Lieutenant Governor.
A calm and peaceful retreat from the stresses and strains of the hectic city life. A chance to escape the daily grind and re-energize the soul. Darling offers that in spades and is easily accessible from either the N7 or the R27 and is only an hour’s drive from Cape Town, but that’s not to say that there shouldn’t be lots to do during your well-deserved stay.
