It's Sunday afternoon, and I decided to tackle a couple of my Super Cub to-do items: the side stand kit and the 15T front sprocket. Unfortunately, the sprocket change didn't work because I was missing a piece. However, the side stand kit went perfectly! Skip to the bottom of the description for clickable time indexes.
[EDIT 2020-09-24: The original kit shown in this video doesn't appear to be available anymore, so I have updated the link to their newer Chimera Engineering side stand kit below. The Chimera kit bolts onto the bottom of the existing step/bar, so you won't need to remove the entire footpeg assembly or replace the footpeg rubbers. All of the other details below will still apply to anyone that sources the OEM side stand kit from other resellers]
I ordered the OEM side stand kit from Steady Garage in California for ease of sourcing the parts. I could have ordered all of the pieces individually from overseas, but I've heard good things about Steady Garage and I wanted to give them a try... and I wasn't disappointed! Here is the link to their kit:

The kit came with everything needed to install the OEM side stand, which consists of removing the entire footpeg assembly and replacing it with the new unit that includes the side stand mounting boss on the left side. The pieces that you need to reuse from your existing step/footpeg bar are the following:
- left and right footpeg rubbers (main step rubber),
- left and right trim rings (caps) and securing screws,
- left and right lower support cradles (bands)
- brake lever bump stop
- four 8x20mm flange bolts that secure the footpeg bar to the lower engine housing
If you choose to purchase these items new instead of reusing them from your existing assembly, then here are the Honda part numbers for reference:
RUBBER, MAIN STEP 50661-K0G-900 $5.10 (QTY=2)
CAP, MAIN STEP 50662-K0G-900 $10.50 (QTY=2)
BAND, MAIN STEP 50663-K0G-900 $2.95 (QTY=2)
SCREW, OVAL (5X8) 93700-05008-0A $2.95 (QTY=4)
RUBBER B, STAND STOPPER 95011-62000 $2.95 (QTY=1)
BOLT, FLANGE (8X20) 95701-08020-00 $2.95 (QTY=4)
You can find all of those parts here if needed: [ Ссылка ]
Removing the footpeg rubbers is difficult, but it is possible to get them off with enough force. They are glued onto the bar with rubber cement, so it takes some convincing to break them loose.
The trick is brute force... don't be nice about it... just twist and pull until the glue breaks free. Installing them onto the new bar is easy with the assistance of some glass cleaner or a similar water-based lubricant.
The only tricky part was getting the side stand return spring onto the hooks. A pair of spring pliers is the obvious tool for the job, but I made it work with a screwdriver and a little extra effort. The entire job should only require about 20 minutes if you have the parts and tools already laid out.
The end result is very satisfying, and I'm sure that I will get a lot of use out of the Cub's side stand. I will continue to look for the OEM side stand switch to enable the ignition interlock... that is a handy (and safe) feature to have with any bike with a side stand. Cheers! 👍😉
Time indexes:
0:00 : Plans to install side stand kit and 15T front sprocket
2:00 : Overview of tools needed for the job... a 12mm socket, #2 Phillips, and a pair of pliers
3:50 : Removing the footpeg rubbers from the step/bar
7:15 : Removing the four 12mm bolts that secure the step/bar to the lower engine case
8:25 : Removing the footpeg bar from the brake (right) side is easier
8:55 : Comparing the two footpeg bars... the USA version doesn't have the side stand boss welded onto the left side, everything else is identical
11:50 : Assembling the side stand pieces onto the new step/bar... you'll also need a 14mm and 17mm socket or wrench to tighten the pivot bolt
16:30 : Attaching the return spring
17:45 : Mounting the new bar with side stand attached
19:30 : The lower bolts should be torqued to 20 lb-ft... and I use blue thread lock just to be sure that they don't back out too easily
20:25 : Testing the action of the side stand... free rotation and good spring tension!
21:12 : Reinstalling the footpeg rubber and associated bits
25:42 : The final result... the Super Cub leaned over on the side stand! 👍👍
