If we want to connect our strategy to real outcomes, we have to first understand that strategy isn’t just about the aspirations we have as an organization. It’s about planning to reach our goals and deciding what to do with our limited capacity to achieve them.
But before we can determine what our goals are, we have to first identify what’s most valuable to the organization and prioritize the things that will release the most value into it. Determining value has to come first or we’ll be aiming at goals that don’t get us to where we need to be.
