This is a Molecular Dynamics simulation of an ideal gas. Particles bounce into each other exchanging momenta in each collision. The internal energy of an ideal only depends on the temperature, and temperature is related to the (average) kinetic energy of the particles illustrated by their colour. The energy of the gas is also distributed randomly between all the particles (entropy).
