Bacon-wrapped shrimp is a quick appetizer you can make for a crowd. The sweet and spicy combination of flavors with crispy bacon, and juicy shrimp makes it a perfect finger food for any gathering.
Ingredients
1 lb (about 15 shrimps) jumbo shrimps (prawns) shell peeled, deveined, tail intact
8 slices thin streaky bacon strips cut into half
4 tablespoons butter melted
¼ cup maple syrup (or honey or brown sugar)
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cracked pepper
Instructions
1 In a bowl mix melted butter, maple syrup(or honey or brown sugar), salt and pepper, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper. Mix everything well and keep aside.
2. Cut bacon into half. This is done so the long strips of bacon do not cover the shrimp in whole. We want to leave a small portion of the front and tail of the shrimp exposed.
3. Take a strip of bacon, and wrap it around the shrimp.
4. To secure the bacon in its place, insert a toothpick to hold the bacon around the shrimp. You can skip this step if you feel the bacon is tightly wrapped and secured well to the shrimp.
5. Arrange wrapped shrimps over a wire mesh placed over a baking tray.
6. Liberally brush spice rub all over the shrimp. Keep the remaining spice rub to apply over the shrimp later.
7. Bake it oven at 400 F for about 12 minutes. Flip the shrimp once halfway through. And apply the spice rub over the flipped shrimp. Any more remaining spice rub can be brushed on the shrimp after cooking it.
8. Serve it hot with your favorite dipping sauce. We love to serve this incredible shrimp appetizer with our favorite shrimp dripping sauce – bang bang sauce.
