Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday announced that the Bharat Ratna will be conferred to former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao, agricultural scientist MS Swaminathan, and former PM Chaudhary Charan Singh. Earlier, the government had announced Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian award in the country, for veteran BJP politician LK Advani and socialist icon and former Bihar Chief Minister Karpoori Thakur.
