Bathukamma Festival is a festival of flowers celebrated by the women folks of Telangana state just before the beginning of winter, when large varieties of flowers bloom in vibrant colors. The main Bathukamma festival is two days before Dussehra, but the celebrations begin a week before the final day. Flowers are beautifully arranged in a brass plate and placed in the courtyard and the colorfully dressed women sing and dance by circling around the Bathukamma. In the evening they carry them on their heads and move in a procession and immerse them in a water body, accompanied by Bathukamma songs. The entire week is celebrated with great enthusiasm and pomp.
