Recently I purchased an IR Hunter thermal weapon sight - this video covers the zeroing of the optic, attachment of a TNVC Thermal Rechargeable Battery Kit, and the first hog hunt with the optic.
The native magnification of the 35mm 640x480 model is 2.5x, the available color palettes are White / Black Hot and Edge Enhancement.
An external DVR was utilized to record the video - the quality is degraded compared to actual images displayed in the scope.
These units have been on the market for nearly 3 years - they still represent a top tier performer with the BAE 12 micron core. I had to save some serious pennies to afford this unit.
Alas it is not without some issues - I am finding the automatic crosshair switching (polarity inversion) to be slow to non-functional , and the video rendered doesn't track with changes made to incremental progressions of white / black hot. Also the unit requires expensive aftermarket external battery kits and the user is unable to simply connect an ANKER battery to the scope without a properly fitted and designed adaptor. The TNVC kit was the most affordable version of these aftermarket kits as of June 2020.
I aim to be uploading more footage in the future - take a look at my friend Brian's youtube channel "Carpe Sus" as he hunts with the 60mm version of this scope to get a comparison of field of view and clarity of the system.
