Northcliffe to Walpole. 135 kms. 6.5 days.
This section was all about change. The spring weather was all over the show and my rain jacket and I had an on-again, off-again thing going on each day until it got too muggy to bother with. In terms of scenery it was a literal transition from the red, mineral rich path lined with giant trees to sandy trails following the wild coastline. With the difference in terrain came the snakes, we all saw at least one on the first day we spotted the ocean. I could also feel the shift as my trail legs remembered how this goes again, feeling the fitness creep in and overpower the fatigue. It only took about 750kms! The trail crew changed as itineraries and different end dates started to become apparent as the reality of the trail end draws closer.
