Deshabandu Muttiah Muralitharan (Tamil: முத்தையா முரளிதரன், Sinhala: මුත්තයියා මුරලිදරන් also spelt Muralidaran; born 17 April 1972) is a Sri Lankan cricket coach, former professional cricketer, businessman and a member of the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame, who is widely regarded as the greatest and the most successful bowler in the history of the sport, and is the only bowler to take 800 test wickets and 530+ ODI wickets.
Murali occationaly played match winning innings for Sri Lanka. Muttiah's maiden 50 in Test cricket came against mighty India in Murali's favourite ground, Asgiriya International Stadium. Murali's best bowling figure in Test cricket also came in Asgiriya stadium. Murali came to bat when Sri Lanka 7 down for 140 runs in the 2nd inning. Murali stright away scored 4 runs for the 1st ball and evenually scored quick 67 runs from just 65 balls. His inning included 5 fours and 3 sixes with a strike rate of 103.08. Murali was the highest scorer in Sri Lanka's 2nd inning and Murali's inning help Sri Lanka to put 221 on the board.
