Music: 'Ocean' by Del Seager

There's a progressive nature to surfing and it's reflected in the many different ways surfers live. Meet John Ocean, a man whose passion for surfing lead him to a remote island in Indonesia. He was born in a surfing family in Southern California, then moved to the Big Island of Hawaii, before rooting himself in the Mentawai Islands. He's designed a life around the water where he gets to ride perfect waves everyday right in front of his house, Togat Nusa. Not many people get to follow their dreams and live "Local Style", but through a lot of hard work and determination, this surfer does.

Explore the world's top surf destinations in "LOCAL STYLE," a new original series on The Surf Channel featuring the premiere waves in Bali, Indonesia as the first of several eco travel destinations. Produced and directed by journalist, NamHee Han, and hosted by lifelong waterman and surfer Mike Rodger, LOCAL STYLE hunts down the world's top destinations for surfers on a mission to travel to remote waves and experience the culture back on the sand.
