STORYLINE:
On April 11th 2014 squatters in Rio de Janeiro clashed with police after a Brazilian court ordered the eviction of nearly 5-thousand people from abandoned buildings.
More than a thousand police officers arrived to move people out of the buildings and car park owned by the telecommunications company Oi.
Some residents fought with police, throwing rocks, Molotov cocktails and setting parts of the building and buses and vehicles on fire.
Police fired tear gas, stunt grenades and pepper spray at some squatters in response.

ON April 29th nine buses were set on fire as local residents clashed with police across Rio de Janeiro during protests against recent shootings in the city's favelas.
Four buses were torched in the Alemao favela complex, while in a separate favela to the west, assailants set fire to five buses during demonstrations to protest the shooting death of a local resident.
Police used tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse the protesters.
There were no reports of injuries to passengers or any of the bus drivers.
A gang of suspected drug traffickers also ransacked an outpatient clinic in the Alemao favela complex, leaving smashed windows and damaging equipment.
It's the latest unrest to hit Rio's slums in the weeks before the country hosts the World Cup.
Tensions have been rising in recent months amid an ambitious security push that sees officers enter slums long held by drug gangs then create permanent police posts.

On April 29th hundreds of demonstrators gathered in Sao Paulo to protest against Brazil's hosting of the FIFA World Cup this summer.
The demonstrators flocked to a metro station in the eastern part of the city for the sixth protest that has been staged in the city against the World Cup so far this year.
There were moments of tension as police tried to limit the demonstrator's movements around the metro area so that they wouldn't block a nearby highway.
Demonstrators, in agreement with the police, ended up using one lane of the highway to walk eight kilometres (five miles) to Sao Paulo's Metropolitan Cathedral, holding up signs protesting against the football tournament.
According to police, around 500 demonstrators participated in the event.

The stadium is about 20 kilometres (12 miles) east of central Sao Paulo, where most tourists stay.
