The mask protects you from dust, pollen, dust mites etc
This is not a medical grade mask and will not protect or prevent you from diseases.
However they will keep you from touching your face, nose and mouth and can help protect others around you when you sneeze or cough.
You can also wear a medical grade mask or filter underneath the mask. It can be worn over an N,9,5 to extend N,9,5 use when appropriate during a severe shortage.
In cases where face masks are not available, home made masks e.g bandanas, scarves may be used as a last resort however they are not considered PPE as since their efficacy is unknown. Caution should be exercised when considering this option home made masks should be used in combination with a face shield that covers the entire face all the way down to the chin and sides of the face.
