A weird, horny, sporadically kinda racist little game that kept the lights on in Pendulo Studios for them to turn their fortunes around, Runaway: A Road Adventure may not have the wit of LucasArts or the entertainingly evil dickbaggery of Sierra Studios, but it's an earnest attempt to make a genuinely good game.
Did it succeed? Mostly, yeah. The first few chapters are tight, fun and generally not too obtuse to figure out, or at least have a consistent internal logic. Even when it starts to succumb to over-padding in the latter chapters, I still cared about the story and genuinely wanted to see what mad thing was going to happen next.
Besides, where else am I going to get to pull of daring rescue with three heavily-armed drag queens?
