The fourth Ballade was the only Ballade that Cziffra recorded commercially.
He did perform the third Ballade in A flat major during his visit to his homeland Hungary in 1983.
I would have loved to have heard him play Ballades one and two as like his account here of the masterly fourth Ballade he would have brought a feeling of recreation, improvisatory flair, poetry and effortless virtuosity,
This is part of a recital Cziffra gave in Argentina in the 1970s which included works by Hummel, Schumann and Liszt.
As you can hear, the capacity audience were enthusiastic and applauded and cheered Cziffra to the rafters.
