Colombian authorities have captured almost 50 alleged drug dealers in a joint operation with the U-S Drug Enforcement Administration (D-E-A)
Authorities dubbed the operation "New Generation" because they say it is an example of a new type of low profile drug trafficking that has replaced the drug cartels.

The operation took place in four Colombian cities and three in the United States, leading to the arrest of almost 50 drug dealers.
The Medellin-based Mafia is allegedly responsible for shipping at least 13-point five tons of cocaine and heroin to the United States each year.

The gang is said to have sent at least a ton of cocaine a month from Colombia to the U- S via Mexico.
They often used fishing boats, and concealed the drugs in plastic molds, textiles and heavy machinery.
Eight women were among the suspects.
