November 5 1940: Convoy HX84, approaches Britain carrying much needed supplies for the British war effort, among the ships is the lone escort, the armed merchant cruiser HMS Jervis Bay, an aging converted passenger liner. Though plagued by fears of U-Boats on the 5th of November 1940 Convoy HX84 would encounter a far different wolf of the sea, as the pocket battleship KMS Admiral Scheer intercepted the convoy. Despite being out gunnned and outranged by the German raider, the Jervis Bay charged the Scheer, in an effort to slow the German cruiser down and buy time for the convoy to scatter and escape. Despite the gallentry of her crew, the aging liner was eventually overwhelmed by the Scheer's firepower and would soon plunge into the darkness taking with her all but 68 of her 254 officers and sailors but their sacrifice was not in vain as their actions, and the actions of the frieghter SS Beaverford bought the convoy enough time to escape the Scheer's wrath.
