Members of the Uganda Journalists Association have announced a media boycott against the Uganda Police Force in protest at attacks on journalists, in the line of duty. The deputy police spokesperson Polly Namaye was today the first victim of this response, as she attempted to address the media ahead of the primary leaving exams. In the same spirit, Uganda Editors Guild have condemned the attacks with a call to security agencies to respect the freedom of journalists to cover the protests as enshrined in the constitution. The attacks against journalists came during the coverage of the protests at Makerere University. Today the president of the Uganda Journalists Association, Bashir Kazibwe explains the essence of the boycott.
