Iran has announced the first arrests over the case of poisoned schoolgirls, after Iran’s Supreme Leader called for the case to be taken “seriously”.
Schools in Tehran have reported cases of illness in recent months that has resulted in hundreds of schoolgirls being hospitalised, with Iran still feeling the effects of the anti-government Mahsa Amini protest movement.
An alleged 5,000 girls in 230 schools across 25 provinces have claimed to have been affected, according to MP Mohammad Hassan Asafari.
