In Coach Dick Anderson's 3rd season at the helm, the 1-0-1 Scarlet Knights host Cincinnati before a homecoming crowd of 27,249 at Rutgers Stadium.
Rutgers took a 29-13 lead into the half. Connecticut scored on a 77 yard drive on their first possession of the second half, making the score 29-20. However, Rutgers Brian Cobb effectively broke the opposing team's spirit as he took the ensuing kickoff back 88 yards for a touchdown.
QB Joe Gagliardi completed 21 of 29 passes for 313 yards and threw four touchdown passes, two to Cobb, leading Rutgers to a 48-28 victory.
