A significant earthquake struck the Telugu states at 7:27 AM, with its epicenter located near Medaram in Mulugu district. The earthquake registered a magnitude of 5.3 on the Richter scale, occurring at a depth of 35-40 kilometers beneath the Earth's surface. This depth minimized the impact on the surface, resulting in only mild tremors felt across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Experts warn that if the quake had been shallower, at around 10 kilometers, the damage and impact would have been much more severe. Residents experienced mild tremors, but no major damages or casualties have been reported so far.
