Breaking news: A local court in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj held gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf guilty in the Umesh Pal kidnapping case on Tuesday. Ahmed, who is an accused in the case, was brought to Prayagraj on Monday from Gujarat’s Ahmedabad. The Supreme Court also refuses to order protection for Atiq Ahmed from the UP Police.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court rejected the plea of Atiq Ahmad, who sought protection during his UP police custody. The top, however, granted Ahmad liberty to approach the Allahabad High Court for protection over his claim that his life is under threat.
