Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue's firefighters are constantly honing their skills and practicing so they'll be at their best when you call 911. At TVF&R's Training Center near Sherwood, firefighters spend time studying fire behavior in the District's Fire Behavior Training Prop. The prop consists of a number of shipping containers arranged to resemble the various building configurations firefighters encounter in the field. Because of the number of containers and their arrangement, training officers can control how fires burn and present firefighters with a wide range of scenarios so they can study fire behavior and practice extinguishment techniques. Firefighters are required to conduct live fire training at least once a year.
