You mentioned that you're 12 weeks along. You had an ultrasound and the ultrasound sonographer told you that they're suspicious of a boy. Generally speaking, we can't really tell gender for sure until 16 weeks and even then, sometimes that's a little bit early. In most cases, your doctor will schedule you for a routine ultrasound at 20 weeks and this is when they check all of the structures of the baby's body and structures within the uterus to make sure that the pregnancy's going well and your baby's developing properly. One of the things that you get to find out at this ultrasound is whether or not you're having a boy or a girl. By 20 weeks for sure, if it looks like a girl, it's a girl. If it looks like a boy, it's a boy. But any earlier than that, it can be a little ambiguous and go either way. Like I said, at 16 weeks, it can be pretty definitive but at 12, I wouldn't go buy any blue yet or tell your family just yet.
