The suffering and loss of life among the children of Ukraine have perhaps been the most upsetting consequences of the invasion.
On Saturday a ten-year-old girl called Polina Kudrin was shot dead - together with her parents as the family tried to escape from Kiev.
You might have seen her, smiling, in so much happier times, out of newspaper front pages. Today her little brother, who was also critically wounded, sadly died too. Another sister is still fighting for her life.
