Hello everyone - this video is an instructional video on "Static Electricity" covering all the basics a GCSE/IGCSE student would be expected to know. Or if you are studying this for the first time, this could be a good place to start from.
The video explores the history behind the subject very briefly. It shows that there are indeed 2 types of charges ( Positive and Negative). It explains when attractions and repulsion occurs.
Explains the difference between conductors and insulators and gives examples of each. Also, talks about the presence of free electrons in metallic conductors.
Elaborates on the 3 types of electrical charging
1. Friction
2. Conduction
3. Induction
States the definition of "Static Electricity" and "Grounding or Earthing".
Explains the importance of grounding with an example of a refuelling aircraft.
The clip was from the National Geography series "Seconds From Disaster" TWA flight 800.
