The Via Appia Antica or Appian Way connected Rome with Brindisi and was built by the censor Appius Claudius in 312 BC. This road has been the paradigm of all subsequent Roman roads and with what was supposed to be its pavement structure, hundreds of ancient roads have been identified throughout Europe, assuming them to be Roman for the simple fact that they had thick stones or slabs on the surface. .
This video attempts to find out what was true about the fact that the Appian Way actually had slabs on the surface, which invalidated it as a road and something that most likely never happened.
