SUBSCRIBE Learn how to tile the right way
Schluter Ditra is installed on the plywood sub floor with a polymer modified thinset, using an 11/64" square notched trowel. First the plywood is dampened with a sponge and water, then the flat side of the Ditra trowel is used to spread the thinset onto the ply wood to key it in, then the notched side of the trowel is used. The Ditra is then placed on the thinset and smoothed with a wooden trowel. The tile is then set on the ditra using a ½" square notched trowel. All the tiles are back buttered before setting the tile into the combed thinset on the ditra. Finally the tile is grouted.
