Ofer Cassif, a member of the Israeli Knesset, said that the resignation of Benny Gantz from Israel’s war cabinet over disagreements for a post-war Gaza “won’t make any difference in the short run” while speaking to Middle East Eye on Tuesday.
Cassif added that in the long run, the resignation of Gantz, who was considered to be Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s political rival, could lead to more protests in Israel’s streets against the government and the war on Gaza.
But Cassif stressed that the main way to pressure the Israeli government to stop the war would be international sanctions against the Israeli government, saying that “the resignation of Gantz might help in that respect”.
