Let's create a pure CSS accordion without JavaScript or any external library. You don't need jQuery or JavaScript to create simple slide accordion.
We have got a section. Inside section we have input, label and div. This div will be toggled. We are using radio buttons to create pure CSS accordion because one radio button can be checked in a radio button group. This is accordion, so we need radio button here. If I want to create CSS toggle, I will need checkbox here.
Also see the input and label relation here. Inputs or radio buttons will have same name. Same name radio buttons make a group. Radio button is outside of label but it is connected to label by using for attribute for label. input's unique ID is being used in for attribute of label. So even if input is outside of label, when I will click at label, input will be checked or unchecked. We will hide original radio button and use label click to check or uncheck radio button. We created more sections like this. Notice the pattern of label, input and div and then input IDs and for attribute value for labels.
Then we styled this HTML. We will hide original input. Input is connected with the label. Label click will toggle input. Because input is related to radio button group, one input will be checked at one time. Other inputs will be unchecked. We will use plus CSS selector to target div next to label and input. We changed height and opacity for div. For checked input, div next to it will be toggled. We have also added nice transition to this pure CSS accordion.
