Gala Pie is a wonderful thing - it's a big long pork pie baked in a loaf tin, and it has boiled egg running all the way through the middle. Commercial Gala Pies use a thing called a long egg which is basically a cylinder of egg yolk inside a tube of egg white. There is a special machine for making these. You probably won't want to go through all the palaver of trying to make a long egg, but fear not, you can still make a Gala Pie. Just boil some eggs, peel them and cut the ends off as close to the yolk as you can. you can then place the eggs side by side to simulate a long egg.
Gala Pie isn't something you'd make every day, but for a special occasion, it's a knockout!
