Pay for NYC Subway with Express Mode on Apple Pay.
• Open the wallet app on your iPhone or Apple Watch. Express Mode is available only on iPhone 8, iOS 13.6, and Apple Watch Series 3, watchOS 6.2.8 or later.
• Tap on the + sign and then tap on ‘Transit card.’
• A list of your cards will appear. Select the card you wish to use to pay at the NYC subway.
• Ensure the Apple device you plan to use is turned on at the subway.
• When you reach the ticket scanner, hold the top of your iPhone or Apple Watch near the middle.
• When your device vibrates, the transaction is complete, and you can proceed. With Express Mode, you do not need to unlock your device before the transaction.
• Alternatively, if your Apple device does not support Express Mode, you can unlock it with Face ID or Touch ID.
• Next, hold the top of the device near the middle of the ticket scanner and wait until it vibrates before you proceed.
