The Gauteng Finance MEC Barbara Creecy has announced that the province's health department will get the biggest amount of funding for this year. Health will get over R50bn, while education will get just over R49bn. The province is also making special provisions to pay compensation to the families of the mentally ill patients who died in the Esidimeni tragedy and to find offices to replace the workplaces lost in the fire that claimed the Bank of Lisbon building in Joburg last year.
