A 47 year's old gentleman presented at SQUARE HOSPITAL LTD Dhaka Bangladesh with known case of HBV related CLD. We performed his endoscopic Variceal Ligation EVL.
Procedure: Endoscopic Variceal Ligation (EVL)
Indication: HBV related CLD
Medication: Under sedation
FINDINGS:
FOL: Epiglottis, aryepiglotic folds, piriform fossas and vocal cords appear normal.
OESOPHAGUS: Multiple columns of grade III to IV oesophageal varices are seen at the lower half. First session of band ligation done by 6 applications Boston Scientific band ligator.
STOMACH: Mucosal edema and erythemas are seen all over the stomach and it is traversed by the striae giving the mosaic appearance.
DUODENUM: D1 and D2 along with papilla appear normal.
BIOPSY: Not taken.
COMMENTS:
1. Grade III/IV oesophageal varices 2. Congestive gastropathy
THERAPEUTIC INTERVENTION: First session of Endoscopic Variceal Ligation (EVL) done.
ADVICE: Review Endoscopy and possible EVL/ Sclerotherapy after 6 months.
