Member Countries of SAARC (South Asia Regional Cooperation Association)
SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) or in Indonesian it is called the South Asian Regional Cooperation Association is a regional cooperation organization consisting of 8 countries in South Asia. 8 South Asian countries namely Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Maldives and Sri Lanka signed the Charter of Establishment of SAARC in the city of Dhaka (Capital of Bangladesh) on December 8, 1985. The Secretariat office is in the city of Kathmandu, Nepal.
The main objective of establishing SAARC is to improve the welfare and quality of life of the people of South Asia and to accelerate economic growth, social progress and cultural development in the South Asian region, provide opportunities for all individuals to live with dignity and realize their potential, increase and strengthen collective independence among South Asian countries and cooperate in the economic, socio-cultural, technical and scientific fields.
