Take a lap with me around Autodromo Vallelunga near Rome, Italy, as I post my best qualifying time of a 1:34.6 in the #164 Flying Lizard Motorsports Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo Evo2.
I spent the 2023 season coaching my client, Tom Tait, as he raced solo in the AM class of the North American Lambo ST series. After having much success and QUITE a bit of fun all year, Tom asked me if I would race with him in the final U.S. rounds of the championship which were to take place in Italy to kick off the Lamborghini World Finals. Of course I said yes and hopped in to bring some Cosmo magic to our performance. My participation with Tom would move us up to the Pro-Am class which was going to be a first for him, and of course my series debut.
Having only driven the car a handful of times during some of our tests this year I had a lot to catch up on to get up to spec with the competition. Although we seemed to bring an extremely loose car with us that we couldn't quite tame as we had hoped, I qualified 3rd in Pro-Am in a Flying Lizard sandwich of P2, P3 & P4 in class. Teammates Andy Lee was just ahead by 0.130 and Marc Miller just behind by 0.008. It was a tight field!
