The Welsh kings of Aberffraw first adopted the red dragon in the early fifth century in order to symbolize their power and authority after the Romans withdrew from Britain.

The government of Wales continues this proud heritage with the flag of Wales, which consists of a red dragon (Y Ddraig Goch) passant on a green and white field. In fact, Wales Tourism adopted this symbol of strength in their logo, which is proudly on display here!
